Village of Walnut offers a number of nearby recreational
opportunities. Our beautiful ten acre tree covered Walnut District
Park provides numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation. The
Walnut Parks and Recreation Department activities listed on this
page reflect the involvement and dedication of our community to
bring you enjoyable year around fulfillment.
Within reasonable driving distance our sport fishing is excellent in
our rivers, streams, and canals. Seasonal game is particularly
abundant in the local forested areas and includes deer, turkey,
pheasant, and a host of other game birds.
For those who prefer golf, there are several excellent nearby
courses, complete with club facilities, pro support, and excellent
dining.
Hiking the many trails available in our local area offers a
wilderness adventure experience never to be forgotten through a land
of historic trails, scenic woodlands, streams and rivers. Bring
your backpacking gear and enjoy the thrills of overnight stays in
local camping areas offering the ease of controlled campsites, or
rugged trail experiences for the true packer. Try your boating,
kayaking, or canoeing skills in a variety of water experiences.
Cross country skiing, snow boarding, and snowmobiling adventures
await throughout the winter in beautiful snow-clad woodlands, hills,
and valleys.
